In a bid to reverse a sharp drop in subscriptions, MultiChoice Nigeria has slashed the price of its DStv decoder from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000, marking a 50% discount. The price cut is part of the company’s newly launched “We Got You” campaign aimed at easing economic burdens on households and boosting subscriber numbers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, CEO John Ugbe said the initiative is designed to make premium content more accessible to a wider audience. “The ‘We Got You’ campaign is about making premium content more accessible and showing that DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans,” Ugbe said.

He added that the platform is repositioning itself as a daily value provider across a range of genres, including drama, kids’ programming, movies, and news.

MultiChoice also announced a promotional offer running from June 16 to July 31, 2025: customers who pay in full for their current package will receive a complimentary upgrade to the next tier.

The moves come in response to Nigeria’s tough economic conditions and a significant subscriber loss of 1.4 million users between March 2023 and March 2025 — a decline blamed on repeated price hikes and the broader economic downturn. MultiChoice raised prices on its DStv and GOtv packages three times over the past year alone, most recently on May 1, 2024.
