In a joint effort with local community members, the Nigerian police, operating out of the Toto Division, successfully raided a kidnappers’ hideout located in the heavily forested region of Achido village, situated near the boundary of the FCT and Kogi State. This operation, carried out recently, resulted in the rescue of 14 victims who had been held captive by the kidnappers.
The Nasarawa State Police Command, via a statement released by DSP Rahman Nansel, the Police Relations Officer, identified the rescued victims as Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed, and Auwal Adamu, all from Kuje in FCT Abuja, and Hussaini Yakubu, Haruna Usman, Jibrin Bature, Isyaka Yakubu, Sule Bello, and Yusuf Yusuf, hailing from Lapai in Niger state.
Others include Yusuf Tashai, Kabiru Iliya both of Rubuchi area of FCT, Sabo Yakubu, Sagir Iliya, and Yunusa Danladi of Tanshi village, Kuje Area council, FCT-Abuja.
In addition to the successful rescue operation, the operatives reported apprehending five individuals suspected of involvement in the kidnapping. The arrested suspects are: Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Kasim, Mustapha Adamu, and Abdul Mohammed.
“And they have confessed to being responsible for the supply of food to the Kidnappers in the forest,” the statement added.
Commissioner of Police CP Umar Shehu Nadada reiterated the Nasarawa State Police Command’s dedication to maintaining a strong alliance with community members to eradicate criminal activities within the state.
The Commissioner urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they may encounter, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the general public in combating crime.
