In an effort to honor the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in service to Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and appeal fund, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing the well-being and support of the country’s servicemen and women as they courageously face current security challenges.
In a solemn ceremony held in the Council Chambers of the State House, President Tinubu expressed gratitude towards the Nigerian Armed Forces, highlighting their invaluable role as the country’s foremost line of defense in the face of various security challenges.
He also recognized their recent triumphs against various threats to Nigeria’s national security; President Tinubu lauded the nation’s armed forces for their unwavering courage, bravery, and tireless dedication to the country’s defense.
The President extolled the patriotic allegiance of the Nigerian Armed Forces to preserving the country’s unity, stability, and steady advancement.
As a sign of gratitude to the fallen heroes to Nigeria’s national security, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, announced a generous donation of ₦500 million from the Executive branch in honor of their immeasurable sacrifice and dedication to the nation.
Adding to the Executive’s donation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, representing the National Assembly, graciously contributed a donation of ₦200 million in a spirit of solidarity and appreciation for the valiant service and ultimate sacrifice of the fallen heroes of Nigeria’s armed forces.
Further demonstrating the collective gratitude of Nigeria’s security leadership, Chief Defense Staff General Christopher Musa and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun announced donations of ₦50 million, on behalf of the Service chiefs and the Nigeria Police Force, to honor the courageous service and indelible sacrifice of the fallen servicemen and women.
