Panic has enveloped various communities in many parts of Kaduna State following a series of attacks by gunmen that led to killings and abductions during the weekend.
This has made some of the residents in the affected communities to abandon their homes while others have moved to homes of their community leaders over fear of fresh attacks.
It was gathered that on Saturday night, two ladies were abducted in Zuntu village, Kubau Local Government Area of the state while on Sunday night, another attack occurred in Kafi village under the same local government where a resident, Muhammad Sani, was killed.
Sources close to the local government told Impact Nigeria News Online on Monday morning that on the same Sunday night, gunmen stormed Makarfi town, headquarters of the Makarfi Local Government Area, around 9:00 p.m., shooting sporadically, killing one youth, Abdulmalik Isah, and abducting a woman identified as Hajiya Yaya.
Following the attack and the rising insecurity in the town, the sources said the Izala Mosque in Makarfi has decided to suspend its planned Tahajjud prayers in this Ramadan period, urging residents to pray at home.
Various communities that were once considered relatively peaceful in the state are now gripped by fear as residents worry about the growing presence of kidnappers and armed groups, the sources disclosed.
