A pharmaceutical company, Pfizer has come up with vaccine against coronavirus infections.
Albert Bourla, the Chairman of Pfizer, announced the arrival of the vaccine after a successful human trial phase.
He said that results from the trial show that the vaccine can prevent more than 90% of people from getting infected. Bourla added that the company will be able to supply 50 million doses by the end of 2020, and around 1.3 billion by the end of 2021.
Welcoming the first effective vaccine to Nigeria, Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, said that President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his delight over the new COVID-19 vaccine.
He said the President described the development as a major milestone in medical advancement.
According Shehu, the President has also called for equitable access and distribution of the product to protect people in all countries, warning against hoarding or illegal diversion of the product.
