The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it has discontinued its investigation into Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church, following a viral video that showed him holding a gun-like object.
Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said Pastor Adefarasin had voluntarily presented himself at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja to clarify the matter.
According to Adebisi, investigators reviewed the circumstances surrounding the incident but found no sufficient grounds to pursue the case further. “Consequent on our findings, the Lagos State Police Command has determined that there are no sufficient grounds to proceed with the matter. The case is hereby discontinued,” the statement read.
The Command stressed that it remains committed to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding public safety, and ensuring transparency in its investigative processes.
The clarification comes after the video, which surfaced online earlier in the week, sparked widespread debate and concern. While some Nigerians criticized the cleric for allegedly brandishing a firearm, others argued that the footage may have been misinterpreted.
The police statement effectively draws the curtain on the matter, clearing the pastor of any wrongdoing.
