The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday, December 18, approved the elevation of some senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to various higher ranks.
Those promoted included AIG Mohammed Usman Gumel, elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG). He was until his promotion, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Community Policing Project (CPP) Department, Research and Planning, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The commission also elevated seven Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and those promoted were Ihebom Chukwuma, CP Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja; Maxwell Olatokunbo, CP K9, Olufemi Abaniwonda, CP Delta State; Alonyenu Francis Idu, CP Bayelsa State; Lawal Ayodeji, CP AHTU FCID Annex Lagos; Agene Emmanuel, FCID Kaduna; and Vungmoh Kwaimo, CP Railway.
Thirteen Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police and they are Babalola Ayodeji Johnson, Ali Umar Fage, Cyril Uche Obiozo, Adepegba Adetoye, Tabitha Bako, Ofem Ikpi Arikpo, Edwin Ogbeghagha, Audu Garba Bosso, Samuel Yerima Gimba, Alhaji Mohammed Danladi, Richard Bala Gara, Lasisi Adekunle Titilola and John Obiuagbaka.
Thirty Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police while 51 Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).
The commission also elevated 542 Superintendents of Police to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and 119 Deputy Superintendent of Police were promoted to Superintendent of Police., just as 12 Assistant Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police.
