Minister of Sports and Youth Development in Nigeria, Sunday Dare, has said that Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr may not be the right man to lead the country national team.

Dare said this after Nigeria were held to a goalless draw against Sierra Leone in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Freetown on Tuesday.

It was the Super Eagles’ second successive draw against Leone Stars, who remarkably came back from 4-0 down to hold Nigeria to a 4-4 draw previous Friday.

Dare who apologised to Nigerians over the team performance, said Rohr’s competent is questionable.

“The performance of the Super Eagles from their last two matches calls into question the suitability and competences of technical adviser, Rohr. Nigerian football deserves better.”

“The needful will be done. Apologies to all football lovers,” the minister said.

Rohr, 67, has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2016 and he guided the team to 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

The German tactician also led the West African giants to the 2019 AFCON finals where they finished third.

Nigeria is still placed at the top of Group L, despite the two draws, standings with eight points with two matches left.
