A survivor of a bandits attack at a community in Niger State has given a chilling account of how a man who just went through surgery at a hospital died while fleeing when bandits invaded the hospital.
The bandits on motorcycles attacked Kuppa in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday, July 7, and unleashed mayhem before vigilantes and local hunters repelled them.
However, when some patients in a hospital in the community heard about the plan by the bandits to invade the hospital, they were said to have fled in different directions.
One of the patients disclosed in a video posted on X platform that a man who had just undergone surgery ran for his life when the bandits invaded.
As he did this, the stitches of the surgery reportedly burst open as he fled and he died as a result. He has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The patient said other patients who also fled had to return to the hospital after they got the information that the attack on the community had been repelled while some community members were said to have left for fear of another attack.
In another cheering development, on Thursday night, bandits entered Gangaren Makurdi village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, prompting a distress alert to security authorities.
Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with Vigilante Group and Civilian JTF operatives, responded swiftly. Their rapid deployment forced the bandits to flee before they could carry out an attack.
The community expressed kudos to the troops, Vigilante Group and CJTF operatives for their swift response, professionalism and commitment to protecting lives and communities.
