Massimiliano Allegri will not coach Juventus for the 2019-20 season according to a statement released on Friday by Juventus.

Ahead of Sunday’s final home Serie A match against Atalanta, a joint Press conference will be held on Saturday.

With this development Allegri will terminate his contract a year early by mutual consent, as he was tied to the club until June 30, 2020.

“Massimiliano Allegri will not be seated on the Juventus bench in the 2019/20 season,” read a statement published on the club website.

“The Coach and President Andrea Agnelli will meet with the media together in a Press conference to be held tomorrow, Saturday May 18, at 14.00 local time at the Allianz Stadium.”

Allegri was with the Bianconeri for five seasons, winning five consecutive Serie A titles, 11 trophies in all and reaching the Champions League Final twice.

There were several meetings over the past few days to plan the future, but it seems Allegri’s ideas did not coincide with those of the board.

Fans were growing in their complaints about Allegri’s often negative approach to the role, even after signing superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo.
