Men of the Nigerian Army have recovered what they described as 444 rounds of special ammunition from two men riding motorcycle in Taraba State.
Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army /Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari, arrested the two men during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Wukari-Ikyaior Road in Wukari Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the operation, conducted on Thursday , March 19, led to the interception and arrest of the two men identified as Wisdom Soomga, aged 32 years and and Elisha Danladi, aged 38 years old.
When the troops conducted a search on them, 444 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition as well as cash totaling ₦29,200, two mobile phones, ATM cards, charms and personal belongings were recovered from them.
“Both suspects and the recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation to ascertain the source and intended use of the ammunition,” the Nigerian Army disclosed in a statement on Thursday.
