Flags and posters purportedly pushing for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2027 presidential bid flooded the Lekan Salami Sporting Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State venue of the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elective national convention on Saturday, November 15.

Some of Jonathan’s supporters were seen hoisting flags and posters with Goodluck Jonathan’s photograph and projecting the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, as his running mate.

The supporters were dressed in green T-shirts and caps, with posters featuring the ‘GEJBAM Project’ emblazoned on them.

There have been speculations about Jonathan’s possible comeback to run for the 2027 presidential election, to which the former president has remained silent.

On Friday, November 14, posters campaigning for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to contest the 2027 presidency were also spotted at the convention venue.

The PDP national convention is already underway following a ruling on Friday, November 14, by the Ibadan High Court, which allowed the PDP to proceed with its elective national convention as scheduled on November 15 and 16.

Justice Ladiran Akintola, at the renewed hearing on Friday, heard arguments from all parties, including the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) counsel, after which it reiterated the court’s November 3 interim order, effectively mandating INEC to attend and monitor the PDP national convention as scheduled.
