Three out of five robbers who used to attack and rob motorists and passengers inside traffic on Lagos roads and who were arrested by men of the state police command have been found to be ex-convicts.

The command announced the development on its Facebook page on Thursday, October 23, while parading the robbers at the command headquarters, Ikeja.

It gave the names of those arrested as Kayode Sulaiman, Bashiru Saheed, Ekene Ifeanyi, Sheriff Ile-Ifa and Sakiru Adeleke, as it added that they were apprehended while attacking the driver of a vehicle that broke down.

According to the command, they were arrested by the operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while patrolling areas such as Old Toll Gate and Motorways areas of Ikeja.

It was gathered that the operatives sighted the robbers while they were attacking the driver and rounded them up before they could dispossess him of his valuables.

During their interrogation, three of the traffic robbers were found to have spent various terms in prisons before they were released.

They were said to have given more useful information to the operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into their nefarious activities.
