Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have foiled a coordinated attack by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, arrested terror collaborators and logistics suppliers, rescued kidnapped victims, and received the surrender of a teenage associate linked to insurgents operating within the Mandara Mountains.
The military disclosed that the operations were part of ongoing intensified offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, cutting off logistics supply chains, and restoring peace across insurgency-affected communities in the North-East.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajibo successfully repelled an attempted invasion by heavily armed terrorists.
According to the statement, the insurgents advanced toward Gajibo town from different directions on motorcycles while carrying support weapons before they were intercepted by troops.
“The terrorists were detected as they advanced towards the town from multiple directions. Troops responded swiftly with heavy firepower, including mortar engagements, forcing the attackers to withdraw in disarray,” Uba stated.
Military sources said the terrorists abandoned parts of their operation following the intense exchange of fire, as troops maintained overwhelming firepower throughout the engagement.
After successfully repelling the attack, troops conducted exploitation operations around the area and recovered ammunition as well as other combat-related items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The military further confirmed that no casualty was recorded among troops during the encounter.
In another operation, troops working alongside operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio town, Borno State.
The suspects, identified as cattle rearers, were apprehended during ongoing security operations targeting terrorist informants and logistics networks within local communities.
According to the military, both suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation to determine the extent of their involvement with terrorist groups.
Similarly, troops acting on intelligence obtained from a surrendered terrorist associate arrested a suspected logistics supplier identified as Umar Ahmadu in Gwoza Local Government Area.
The military disclosed that the suspect allegedly confessed to supplying materials and other items to terrorists on several occasions.
“Troops, acting on credible intelligence obtained from a surrendered terrorist associate, arrested a suspected logistics supplier identified as Umar Ahmadu in Gwoza. The suspect reportedly confessed to supplying items to terrorists on multiple occasions and is currently under interrogation,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old relative of a terrorist also surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis after escaping from a terrorist enclave located within the Mandara Mountains.
Preliminary investigations indicated that sustained military offensives and worsening humanitarian conditions inside the enclave forced the teenager to surrender.
The military also rescued two male victims kidnapped from Mafa town after they escaped from captivity under poor visibility conditions and were intercepted during routine patrol operations.
The rescued victims have since been handed over for medical evaluation and further necessary action, while military operations continue across the North-East.
