Two members of the Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday, December 24, suddenly died one after the other within one hour, throwing their constituencies into mourning.
The two lawmakers are Honourable Aminu Saad Ungogo, representing the Ungogo Constituency and Honourable Sarki Aliyu Daneji, representing the Kano Municipal Constituency.
According to impeccable sources in the state, Honourable Ungogo was the first to die around noon and one hour later, the news of Daneji’s death filtered into the air.
Though the causes of their deaths were however yet to be officially disclosed, sources said the two lawmakers had been having challenges with their health for some time.
The news of the death of the two lawmakers was also confirmed via a post on the social media account of Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesman of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He described the deaths with the Islamic phrase of condolence: “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiun,” followed by the announcement of their passing.
The sources added that they are expected to be buried on Thursday, December 25, according to Islamic rites.
