Two men who were on a motorcycle and on their way to deliver bullets and magazines to bandits in the forest have been intercepted and arrested by men of the Katsina State Police Command.

It was gathered that on January 27, around 2:00 p.m., operatives of the command, while on a stop and search duty along the Zaria-Funtua road, intercepted the two men, Shu’aibu Musa, aged 30 years and Ahmed Sani, aged 27 years, on a motorcycle.

When a search was conducted on them, six AK-47 magazines and 305 rounds of live bullets neatly concealed were recovered from them.

According to the command in a statement on Thursday, during their interrogation, they were said to have disclosed that they received the bullets and magazines from Jos, Plateau State, and were on their way to deliver them to bandits in the forest in Katsina State.

They were said to have given more useful information to the operatives while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation.

They will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation, the command added.

The state police command has, in recent times, been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups including terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, among others, terrorising residents of the state.

Some of those arrested had been charged to various courts in the state.
