Two men from the Northern part of the country who were arrested with various food supplies while they were on a motorcycle have told men of the Edo State Police Command that they were given the food items to supply them to a herdsman inside a forest in the state,

The state police command announced the arrest on its Facebook wall on Thursday afternoon, saying the two men, Rabiu Shehu and Hashiru Yusuf, were arrested by the operatives attached to the Ekpoma Divisional Headquarters in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.

According to the command, they were arrested while heading towards the forest through the Pipeline area route on a motorcycle bearing registration number KWC 014 QV, and were found in possession of food items and a power bank.

The command wrote: “Upon interrogation, they confessed that the food items were given to them by one Medisara Idris to deliver to a certain herdsman inside the forest.

“Preliminary investigations have commenced and the case will be transferred to the appropriate unit for further investigation with a view to uncovering the full network behind the activity and bringing all involved to justice.”

The state police command has been grappling with the activities of herdsmen who hide at various forests in the state to perpetrate criminal activities. Some of them had been arrested and charged to court.
