Contrary to widespread report on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram, on the death of veteran Yoruba actor, Chief Lere Paimo, the famous actor is alive, hale and hearty, Impact Nigeria News Online can authoritatively report.
The media space was awash early on Saturday morning that the veteran actor, popularly known as Eda Onile Ola, died on Friday night ‘after being bedridden for three months,’ but the old man, who celebrated his 86th birthday recently, is alive and is currently in his Ibadan home.
Chief Lere Paimo, who became famous for his role in the legendary epic film, Ogbori Elemosho, has acted in many Nollywood movies and was conferred with a national honour of the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the Federal Government.
A very reliable source close to the actor told Impact Nigeria News Online on Saturday morning that she spoke with Chief Paimo shortly after he woke up and he was said to have expressed surprise about the news of his death and how it spread fast on the social media.
The source, who is an actress and from Ogbomosho where the famous actor came from, added that Chief Paimo was worried that journalists and bloggers did not bother to call him for confirmation despite the fact that many of them have his phone number.
