In a night of sheer drama and unrelenting intensity, Inter Milan emerged victorious over Barcelona in a pulsating UEFA Champions League semi-final clash that saw seven goals, seven yellow cards, and countless moments of footballing brilliance at the San Siro.
What began as a tactical showdown quickly transformed into an emotional rollercoaster as both European giants traded blows in a game that will be remembered for years to come.
Inter Milan struck first in the 21st minute through Lautaro Martínez, who pounced on a defensive lapse to put the hosts ahead. Just before the halftime whistle, Hakan Çalhanoğlu doubled the lead with a stunning strike during stoppage time, sending the home crowd into raptures.
But Barcelona returned from the break with renewed determination. Eric García pulled one back in the 54th minute, followed swiftly by Dani Olmo’s equalizer in the 60th, leveling the tie and shifting the momentum in favor of the Spanish side.
The Catalan giants continued to dominate possession, recording 71% compared to Inter’s 29%, and their relentless pressure paid off in the 87th minute when Raphinha fired them into the lead for the first time.
Inter, however, refused to go quietly. As the clock ticked down, veteran defender Francesco Acerbi delivered a lifeline with a powerful finish just before full time, sending the match into extra time with the scoreline locked at 3–3.
Tensions rose as the game entered its final act, with both sides pushing to break the deadlock. In the 99th minute, it was 25-year-old Davide Frattesi who turned hero, slotting home a dramatic winner to restore Inter’s lead at 4–3.
Barcelona pushed desperately for an equalizer, but Inter’s defense stood firm, closing every gap and denying any late heroics. At the final whistle, the San Siro erupted in celebration as the Nerazzurri secured their place in the Champions League final.
The match also saw a flurry of disciplinary actions, with Inter Milan picking up five yellow cards and Barcelona two, underscoring the high-stakes nature of the encounter.

Inter Milan will now look ahead to the Champions League final, set for Saturday, May 31, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, where they will seek their first European crown since 2010.
