Janeth Okedu shares with our correspondent, Mercy Ezeokonkwo, about her amazing experience of being a twin, the favours and how she resolves conflicts with her twin sister.

My name is Okedu Chinazaekpere Janeth. A 300 Level Chemical Engineering student. My Twin sister is Okedu Amarachi Jessica. A 300 level Biochemistry student. Both of us are students in Federal University of Technology Owerri. We’re the C E.O of J&J crotchets. We design and produce crotchet footwears.

How do you feel about being a twin?
I feel very special and unique being a twin.
Have you gained any favor for being twins?
A lot of favour actually
Especially during our admission processing we were paid so much attention and we were able to finish our clearance fast.
One fateful occasion was during our Year 1 medical Clearance in FUTO.
We went to FUTO medicals together and we wore the same attire.
The crowd was much and the nurses were very strict and annoying.
When it got to my sister’s turn, she entered and as usual they attended to her harshly. After she left I entered inside for mine…
The nurse was surprised and angrily asked me that she thought she has attended to me before…
But I told her No that it’s my twin sis she attended too. Immediately her tone and mood changed. She told me to go and call my twin sis.
When she saw us, she was very happy and she told her colleague to attend to us very well.
That was how we finished our clearance before every other person that came for the same purpose.

Yes I do wish to have twins as my children. Twin boys to be precise.
Do you keep secret from your twins?
I keep secrets from my twin
What’s the striking difference between your twin and yourself?
I am fatter than my twin sister. That’s the most striking difference between us.

We have never been separated before since birth.
Has the thought of losing your twin ever come to your mind?
Yes it has.
How did you overcome such thought?
I just stop thinking about it and Focus on the present
What can you say about your twin?
She’s beautiful, intelligent, and my perfect Half
What’s the greatest sacrifice you’ve done for your twins?
I have given up so many things just to please my twin.
Do things happen coincidentally to your both?
Yes they do.
What’s your take on putting on clothes as twins?
We Love it. It’s the Best.
Have you both ever had a fight? Share with us.
Yes we have but only once; we quarrel almost every minute of the day and we still make up almost immediately.
How do you reconcile your differences after a misunderstanding?
We just start talking about something else. We don’t bear grudges at all.
