Two kidnappers who were arrested while attempting to abduct two men have told operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command that they decided to carry out the act after finding out that the men always keep large sums of money at home and they don’t bother to use the services of banks.

The two kidnappers, whose name were given as Kyellumi Umar and Muhammad Aliyu Gawo, were arrested by men of the Rapid Response Squad of the command in Misau Local Government Area of the year.

Acting on credible intelligence received on May 12 from an anonymous source, the operatives swiftly mobilised, trailed and intercepted the suspects before they could carry out their plan.

The timely intervention prevented harm to the intended victims and disrupted the criminal network’s operation.

During their interrogation, they stated that they had planned to rob and abduct the first victim whom they claimed does not keep his money in the bank as well as the second, who they said used to come to the market with a large sum of money in a bag which he used to keep at home.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and they  are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.

The state police command has been grappling with the activities of various criminal groups including armed robbers, kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, among others, attacking residents of various parts of the state.

Some of those arrested have been charged to courts for their nefarious activities.
