A woman who was arrested with a stolen Toyota Hilux by men of the Kano State Command when she was taking it to Niger Republic has told the operatives that she was given the vehicle by a man who is currently on the run.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, October 9, saying the woman, Adama Hassan, aged 35 years, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Special Intervention Squad of the command.
It was gathered that a report was received from the owner of the Toyota Hilux that the vehicle was stolen from Ikeja Road, Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
Following the receipt of the report, the swung into action and, through intelligence-led technical operation along Airport Road, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, arrested the lady while attempting to take the vehicle to Niger Republic.
The command stated: “The suspect has confessed to receiving the vehicle from a male suspect from Lafiyan, Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, who is currently on the run. The Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspect at and recover more exhibits.”
The woman was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and she is expected to be charged to court at the completion of the investigation.
