Fifteen days after a lady died inside a hotel room in Calabar, Cross River State, her family members have not showed up despite the call by the police for them to identify the deceased.
The state police command has therefore released the photograph of the lady who died after she and a man lodged in the hotel located along Clifford Lane, on September 8. The command is also looking for the man who lodged with her.
It will be recalled that the deceased lodged at the hotel alongside a male guest whose whereabouts remain under investigation. She was found dead by one of the receptionist after the man had left.
The receptionist on duty at the time of the incident was promptly arrested after the manager and owner of the hotel reported the incident at the police station. The receptionist, who was immediately arrested, remains in police custody and is assisting investigators with information concerning the admission of the guests and events preceding the discovery of the deceased. “The Commissioner of Police, Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has directed that the investigation be conducted professionally and objectively to establish the identity of the deceased, determine the circumstances surrounding her death, locate the male guest and establish the roles, if any, of persons connected to the incident.
“As part of ongoing efforts to establish the identity of the deceased, the command is releasing her photograph and appeals to anyone who recognises her or may have information concerning her identity, family or associates to contact the police with credible information,” the command said in a statement on Wednesday, September 23.
The command said it was appealing to members of the public for information that may assist the investigation, adding that anyone who recognises the deceased from the photograph or has information that may assist in locating the male guest should contact the command.
