A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu, has declared that the opposition coalition led by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar poses no threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, Idimogu, who serves as the deputy leader of the Ndigbo group in the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissed the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable opposition platform.
“APC is a very big party, and it will be very hard for any party or even coalition to defeat it in 2027,” he said. “Let them gather; by the grace of God, they cannot unseat Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That is the truth.”
Idimogu argued that Tinubu’s political resilience and strategic acumen make any attempt to unseat him extremely difficult.
“To say you want to remove Tinubu is a difficult thing. When you look at his journey to where he is today, you will know that unseating him is something that will be very difficult,” he said. “Tinubu is a strategist who knows the success path in politics.”
He expressed confidence that the president would not only complete his current term but also secure a second mandate in 2027.
“I pray for him and wish him well. God will do it for him,” Idimogu stated.
He urged southern politicians to rally behind Tinubu, just as northern leaders supported former President Muhammadu Buhari during his two-term presidency.
Idimogu also questioned the sincerity of the ADC-led coalition, predicting it would face internal divisions before the 2027 general elections.
“At best, the coalition would only produce some lawmakers, but not the president,” he said.
