Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at Bolaji Abdullahi, interim spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing him of political inconsistency and self-serving ambition.
In a statement on Friday, Olayinka described the recently announced opposition coalition as a “coalition of confusion,” insisting its leaders are motivated by personal interest rather than national good.
Abdullahi had accused Wike of betraying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and contributing to its decline. But Olayinka countered, questioning whether Wike was responsible for Abdullahi’s 2014 exit from the PDP or his fallout with former political benefactor, Senator Bukola Saraki. He recalled Abdullahi’s switch from the PDP to the APC — where he served as a minister under President Goodluck Jonathan — and his eventual return to the PDP after a failed attempt to secure political power in the ruling party.
Olayinka noted Abdullahi’s unsuccessful bids for elective office in Kwara State, claiming repeated rejection at the polls reflects his lack of political value. He accused Abdullahi and his allies — including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Dino Melaye — of seeking power through deceit while disguising their agenda as a democratic rescue mission.
He dismissed their claim of defending democracy as a “lie,” asserting that the coalition is composed of politically frustrated individuals hungry for power. “Too bad, they won’t get it,” Olayinka concluded.
