A seemingly cordial evening visit of the Adeleke’s family to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Ikoyi residence on June 3, 2025, has ignited intense political speculation.

Present at the closed-door meeting were Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, his billionaire brother Dr. Deji Adeleke, and global Afrobeat star David Adeleke – better known as Davido. While officially described as a private, pre-Eid-el-Kabir courtesy call, the symbolism of the gathering has been impossible to ignore.

Photos released after the visit showed smiling faces and warm handshakes. Davido was pictured beside First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and Governor Adeleke – elected under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – stood side by side with the APC president, sparking widespread chatter about a possible political realignment. The meeting, which included figures from politics, business, and entertainment, set social media abuzz with questions about what lies ahead in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Some analysts view the meeting as a strategic move by Tinubu, possibly aimed at consolidating support in the South West ahead of the 2027 general elections. Governor Adeleke’s surprise appearance, given his PDP affiliation and history with the APC in Osun State, only deepened the intrigue.

Insiders within the Osun APC reportedly expressed discomfort over the optics, interpreting the engagement as a potential softening of partisan lines. Others dismissed the rumors as overblown, insisting the visit was strictly social. Yet the high-profile nature of the guests—especially Davido, whose political voice resonates with Nigeria’s youth—added fuel to public curiosity.

In a nation where alliances shift and images carry weight, this unexpected convergence of power players has raised more questions than answers. Whether a political overture or a symbolic gesture of unity, the Ikoyi meeting was anything but ordinary. It may well be a prelude to deeper moves ahead of 2027.
