A 71-year-old man has been arrested by men of the Adamawa State Police Command after he was said to have hacked his wife to death with an axe inside a beer parlour during an argument.
The state police command announced the sad incident in a statement on Friday afternoon, and said the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, after the septuagenarian, Jeriel Clifford Peter, hacked his wife, Miltha Jeriel, to death.
The incident was said to have occurred following what the command described as “a little misunderstanding” that started at a beer parlor between the couple.
It was gathered that during the misunderstanding, the man reportedly took an axe and hacked the woman before going ahead to stab her with a knife multiple times.
The command’s statement reads: “Upon receipt of a distress call, the command deployed operatives from the Demsa Divisional Headquarters to the scene.
“The woman was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by the doctors on duty. Her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
The old man has been arrested and he is currently giving useful information to the police operatives while the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for more investigation.
He is also expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
