Dangote Sugar has issued an internal circular warning all its staff to stop eating its sugar canes, saying they are part of its raw materials in production process.
The company issued the circular apparently following the constant chewing of sugar canes meant for the production of sugar in the company.
The circular, dated April 7, issued by the Human Resources Department and signed by Ikechukwu Okorie, the Head of Human Resources, said severe consequences and disciplinary action await any staff found chewing the company’s sugar canes.
The circular reads: “This is to warn all staff and workers who engage in chewing company’s sugar canes in the company/factory premises that this act is a gross misconduct and is tantamount to summary disciplinary actions.
“1. The sugar cane is company’s property with great value/ cost attached to it.
“2. Chewing canes and dropping the chaffs indiscriminately is degrading the company environment and it is messing up our housekeeping efforts.
“3. DSR-NUMAN is a food industry that needs excellent housekeeping. So, littering of chewed cane chaffs is not allowed.
“In this regard, the security apparatus is on red alert and has been mandated to arrest anybody caught chewing company’s sugar canes and the perpetrators will be subjected to disciplinary action and prosecuted accordingly to recover the loss of this very important company’s asset.
“Be warned for the last time.”
