The current situation of cooking gas seems to have reached a crisis level as a man narrated how he left his home very early in the morning in order to fill his cylinder and met 29 persons ahead of him.
The man, whose X handle is @Uno_009 and who wrote from Calabar, Cross River State, said he left his home at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday to fill his 12.5kg cylinder, thinking he would be there early enough and be attended to quickly.
However, on getting to the gas station (names withheld), he got the shock of his life when he was given Number 30, indicating that 29 other persons were already there before him to buy the commodity.
He added that he decided to go to the gas station because the commodity was sold there at N1,390 per kilogramme while those selling on the streets and along the roads sell theirs for between N2,000 and N2,400.
He said after receiving his Number 30 tally and after being told by the attendants that they would not start selling until 7:00 a.m., he had no choice but to wait.
He added that by the time the attendants started selling the commodity a little after 7:00 a.m., over 35 more cylinders had joined the queue.
He stated that he filled the 12.5kg cylinder with N17,375 as he still thanked God because he would have spent between N22,500 and N30,000 if he had decided to buy from road vendors.
Many people at cities and towns across the country are currently going through tough moments in order to purchase cooking gas with some of them saying they buy at between N1,900 and N2,200 per kilogramme.
