The Delta State Police Command has begun investigation into how a 26-year-old lady lured another woman, aged 25, to Cote d’Ivoire with a hairdressing job and the lady ended up being used for prostitution.
The trafficker, Ese Betty Isiorho, was arrested following a petition to the command which indicated that she lured the 25-year-old victim with the promise of getting a hairdressing job in Côte d’Ivoire and upon her arrival in the country, the victim was forced to engage in prostitution.
Acting swiftly on the petition, operatives of the Effurun Area Command picked up the woman in the state and interrogated her.
She was said to have told the operatives that she went with the victim and another lady in her twenties to the West African country where they were handed over to a woman identified only as Madam Purity for the purpose of prostitution.
According to the state police command in a statement on Sunday, August 2, following sustained investigative efforts and collaboration, the victim was rescued in Cote d’Ivoire and returned to Nigeria. She has since been reunited with her family members.
“Efforts are ongoing to secure the return of the second victim, who is also in her twenties and is still believed to be in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as to apprehend other members of the trafficking syndicate,” the command said.
