Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, on Sunday, April 12, alleged that the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Fayose made the allegation in a post on his X handle on Sunday afternoon, saying the plan to remove the traditional ruler was due to his absence during the coronation of three high chiefs held some days ago.

It will be recalled that the state governor held coronation ceremony for three elevated high chiefs, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland; Oyekola Babalola, the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland and Akeem Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.

The three recipients, who were supposed to be given beaded crowns, were absent during the ceremony while the Olubadan, who was also absent, was represented by Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadanland, who came with the traditional ruler’s staff of office.

However, Fayose, in the post on Sunday, said Makinde was very angry over the absence of Oba Ladoja at the ceremony and he is making moves to sack the traditional ruler.

He added that the plan was for Makinde to issue a query to Ladoja after which he will set up a panel for the removal of the king.

Fayose wrote: “I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.

“The plot is to commence this week, with government query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations.”

As of the time of this report, the Oyo State government has not responded to the allegations made by Fayose.
