The Lagos State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the robbing of some job applicants during an interview session in the Magodo area of the state.

The command confirmed the development on Sunday, April 12, while reacting to a video that went viral regarding the robbery incident that took place on Thursday, April 9.

A lady had posted the video on her X handle where she said she and others applied for vacancies in an organisation and they were invited for an interview session in Magodo.

According to her, as they got into the interview venue, the supposed interviewers collected their phones, money, bags and other items with the pretext that since they were going to do a written test, they should drop the items with them.

The interviewers eventually locked them inside while they were writing the test and fled with all the items.

In the video posted by her, some of the applicants were seen crying outside the venue of the interview, which one of them described as a hotel, while a lady was crying and shouting about the loss of her bag and phones.

However, the state police command said on Sunday that it was aware of the incident that was reported at the Magodo Division on the night of April 9, adding that one person had been arrested in connection with the incident.

It wrote: “The command confirms that the incident captured in the viral video is under investigation. The case was reported at about 11:00 p.m. on 09/04/2026.

“One suspect is currently in police custody while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects and bring all those involved to justice.

“Members of the public are advised to be cautious of fraudulent online job offers and to always verify the authenticity of such offers.”
