Seventy five men, women and children who were abducted by gunmen while travelling and hidden inside a cave at a forest in Kaduna State have been rescued by men of the state police command.
It was gathered that on August 19, around 5:30 p.m., the command received information from the NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, that some Fulani men, women, and children travelling in commercial buses were abducted by the men wielding AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons at Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari.
The abductors, according to reports, after kidnapping the victims, took them into the forest and hid them in a cave within a mountainous area.
Upon receipt of the information, a team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the location.
On sighting the police operatives, the abductors reportedly fled, abandoning their captives, who were eventually rescued unharmed.
The command added that a manhunt had been launched for the abductors while the rescued victims are currently undergoing medical attention before they would be reunited with their family members.
