A security guard who allegedly stole two generators at his employer’s house in Akure, Ondo State and thereafter fled to Ogun State has been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command.
The security guard, Emmanuel Ojo, was said to have stolen two generators valued at N950,000 belonging to his employer in Alagbaka Extension, Akure.
The incident was reported at ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters, Akure, by the employer who said the man’s whereabouts have remained unknown after carrying out the act.
Preliminary investigation by the police operatives indicated that the security guard took advantage of his position to steal one Fireman generator and one Honda generator, with a combined value of N950,000, before absconding from his duty post.
Following the report by the employer, detectives commenced an investigation and gathered intelligence indicating that the man had fled to Ogun State in an attempt to evade arrest.
Acting on the information, the police operatives tracked him to Ogun State where he was apprehended.
During his interrogation, he was said to have confessed to the commission of the offence, providing investigators with useful information concerning the circumstances surrounding the theft.
The suspect was subsequently subjected to further investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and later charged to court where he was remanded in prison.
In another development, operatives of the the command has arrested two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity following actionable intelligence received by officers of the Funbi Fagun Division.
The men, identified as Yusuf Taye and Damilola Ojo, were arrested on September 23 at Loro Street and Temidire Street, Ondo, respectively.
Following their arrest and further investigation, police operatives obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence of Damilola Ojo. The search led to the recovery of one axe, two live cartridges and one parcel of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
