Security forces in Kaduna State have foiled a kidnapping operation, arrested six suspects, and recovered multiple firearms in two coordinated actions aimed at tackling rising insecurity in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Kaduna State Police Command, the first incident occurred on February 22, 2025, when unknown assailants invaded a residence in Ungwan Ninzom, Jagindi Tasha Village, in Jema’a Local Government Area, and abducted a young man identified as Hussaini Ibrahim. The victim’s father reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kafanchan, prompting the immediate deployment of operatives to the area.
Although the kidnappers initially evaded arrest, a follow-up operation led to the successful rescue of Ibrahim on February 24. He was found in a nearby bush with a gunshot wound on his leg, believed to have been inflicted by his captors. He received treatment at a nearby clinic and has since been reunited with his family.
Four suspects were apprehended in connection with the kidnapping. They were identified as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30, from Jagindi Tasha; Buhari Muhammad, also known as ‘General,’ 31, from Bayya Village; and two men from Gidan Waya—Ahmadu Nasiru, 51, and Zakari Saleh, 50. Security operatives recovered one English-made AK-47 rifle and three locally fabricated versions during the arrest. Police say investigations are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices.
In a separate but related operation on July 23, detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious waybill in Kaduna. The consignment, which originated from Jos and was headed to Gusau in Zamfara State, contained a fabricated AK-47 rifle hidden in a sack. Follow-up operations in Gusau led to the arrest of two suspects: Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the swift response and professionalism of the operatives. He assured residents that the police remain committed to making Kaduna unsafe for criminals, and that all suspects will be prosecuted upon the completion of investigations.
