Abductors who kidnapped 13 members of a community in Kaduna State have refused to release them after the community paid the sum of N40 million as ransom.
On November 11, 2025, the abductors invaded the Saminaka community in Lere Local Government Area of the state in broad daylight, killed some residents, kidnapped 13 others whom they took into the forest.
However, over two months after the incident, the community members gathered the sum of N40 million, paid it for the release of the victims, but after collecting the money, the abductors were said to have refused to release them.
The Chairman of the Mobile Phone Dealers Association at Yarkasuwa Market in Saminaka, Malam Rabo Sabo Jan-tsauni, who spoke with newsmen on the development, has issued a “Save Our Souls” to Governor Uba Sani, calling for urgent intervention to rescue community members.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna, Jantsauni said during the incident, the marauders attacked the community, killed four persons, injured five others and went away with the 13 residents.
He explained that the kidnappers initially demanded ₦300 million, but after much negotiations, they agreed to collect N40 million.
Sources close to the community told Impact Nigeria News Online on Tuesday morning that in a bid to save their kinsmen, residents reportedly sold over 5,000 bags of assorted grains to raise the ₦40 million which they eventually handed over to the kidnappers.
The refusal to release the captives was said to have caused apprehension in the community and has therefore prompted renewed calls on the state government and security agencies to take immediate and decisive action.
As of the time of this report, neither the state government nor any security agencies had reacted to the cry of the community members.
