Some travellers were feared dead while others sustained varying degrees of injuries when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by bandits exploded and caused massive destruction at a highway in Zamfara State.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at Yar’Tasha-Dansadau highway in the Maru Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the planted explosive suddenly went off on the highway and caused a lot of confusion. The explosion resulted in the death of yet to be ascertained number of travellers while others were injured.
Some vehicles were also said to have been destroyed as a result of the impact of the deadly explosion while security agencies were reported to have been drafted to the highway.
