Actor Derek Dixon has filed a $260 million lawsuit against media mogul Tyler Perry, alleging sexual harassment, assault, and professional retaliation in a case that has reignited debates about power abuse in Hollywood.
Filed on June 13, 2025, in Los Angeles Superior Court, the lawsuit claims Perry used his influence to coerce Dixon—who starred in 85 episodes of Perry’s series The Oval—into a toxic dynamic. The two met in 2019, after which Perry offered Dixon a career-launching audition.
According to the suit, Perry made repeated unwanted sexual advances, including sending explicit messages and groping Dixon on multiple occasions. Dixon also alleges Perry entered his guest bedroom without consent and initiated physical contact.
He further claims Perry threatened to kill off his character on The Oval if he resisted and later manipulated him by offering a development deal on his pilot Losing It, which was never pursued despite Perry acquiring the rights.
Dixon says he was given a pay raise to keep him quiet. After filing a 2024 complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission with no result, he resigned, citing a hostile work environment.
Perry has not commented directly, but his attorney, Matthew Boyd, dismissed the lawsuit as a “scam,” calling the claims fabricated and financially motivated.
The case has gone viral on social media platform X, dividing public opinion. As proceedings unfold, the case could have wide-reaching implications for accountability and conduct standards in the entertainment industry.
