The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to producing 21st-century-ready professionals, particularly in health and education, through sustained investment in human capital and infrastructure.

This pledge was emphasized at the third matriculation ceremony of the Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), Igando, held to welcome students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, Permanent Secretary Mr. Adeniran Kasali described the event as a new chapter for LASCON, marked by the appointment of a new Provost and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s consistent support under the T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda.

Kasali highlighted major strides in upgrading the institution’s facilities, including a nearly completed hostel block and a modern administrative complex. He also disclosed that steps are underway to secure five-year accreditation for the College—key to strengthening its academic standing.

“The Governor’s vision for an effective, accessible healthcare system is reflected in the development of institutions like LASCON,” Kasali said, urging students to embrace innovation and lifelong learning.

In her address, Provost Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa encouraged students to anchor their journey in compassion, intellectual curiosity, and an unyielding commitment to learning. She urged them to utilize the College’s vast resources, including clinical training, mentorship, and entrepreneurial programs.

“Excellence is not a destination but a mindset,” Ogunmuyiwa said.

The event served as both a rite of passage for new students and a reaffirmation of Lagos State’s drive to build a resilient, future-ready healthcare and education system.
