Security agencies in Anambra State have met to strengthen security across the state, saying that they are ready for the November governorship election.
The “situation room meeting” with representatives of various security agencies in the state at the instance of the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, was held at the Command Headquarters, Awka, on Wednesday, October 22.
The Situation Room, established at the Command Headquarters, Awka, will serve as the central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and response to any security developments during the election period.
Orutugu said the strategic meeting was in furtherance of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) directives and in preparation for the forthcoming election.
The Commissioner of Police, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Ibrahim Ezekiel, said there was a need for collaboration among the security agencies in the state and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible election in Anambra State.

“The meeting provided a platform for strategic review and coordination of security arrangements ahead of the election, ensuring seamless inter-agency collaboration, effective deployment, and intelligence sharing.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible election in Anambra State.
“There is a need for synergy among all security agencies. Security during elections is a shared responsibility that requires professionalism, neutrality, and dedication.”
The security agencies also assured of their readiness to work collectively under the ICCES framework to ensure voters’ safety and maintain public order before, during, and after the election.
The November 8 governorship election in the state has candidates of 16 political parties jostling for the governorship seat, including the incumbent governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
