A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Mallam Abdulmumini Garba, has given details of how he dumped the body of a female companion beside the gate of a university in the state, saying she died in his car during a row over money.

The man, who is the Secretary of the APC in Karasuwa Local Government Area of the state, gave the details after he was arrested by men of the state police command in connection with the the discovery of a female corpse beside the fence of the Federal University, Gashua.

It will be recalled that the body of the lady, Fatima Abubakar, aged 45 years, was discovered to have been dumped beside the university gate in the early hours of October 17.

Following the incident, the police began investigation and this yielded positive results when they arrested the 60-year-old APC chieftain, who is also the Secretary of the Vegetables Market Association (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua.

According to the command, during his interrogation over the incident, he was said to have told the policemen that he carried the lady in his vehicle, during which a row ensued over her request for financial assistance to support her business.

The command wrote: “The altercation tragically resulted in her death inside the vehicle. Realising that she had died, the suspect stated that he subsequently disposed of the body in a nearby bush beside the university gate at about 10:00 p.m. on the same date — the spot where the corpse was later discovered.”

He was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation into the incident.
