The wife of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor ((Mrs) Folu Adeboye, has recounted the day she threw all her jewellery into the Lagos Lagoon after she became born again.
Mrs Adeboye, popularly known as Mother in Israel, disclosed this in a video posted on social media, as she added that some friends of her mother urged her to give the jewellery to her, but she refused as she said she told them that whatever was not good for her was equally not good for her mother.
According to her, in those days when they were wearing copper jewellery instead of gold, she spent a lot of money on the item and she had a lot of them.
She said: “Every woman loves fashion. For example, I had already made a set of gold and all kinds of things for my child who was under two years before we became born again.
“But the moment we became born again, then in RCCG, it was a taboo for you to have earrings, so everything regarding my gold jewellery, I dropped them in the Lagoon.
“My mother’s friends came and told me that I should have given them to my mother so that she could sell them. I told them that whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother.
“So I just love to look good. In the days of copper jewellery, I don’t know whether you know what copper is, we used to wear copper jewellery instead of gold. Only God knows how much I spent on copper.
“But now, I don’t miss them, not much, because I didn’t regret throwing them away.”
