Anxiety in Ondo, heir to Akungba-Akoko throne yet unknown

The ruling on injunction of stay of execution of the coronation of Alale of Akungba – Akoko, as well as the hearing on the substantive suit has been fixed for January 16 by the Supreme court.

This case has created anxiety to the residents of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government area of Ondo state ahead of the Supreme Court judgment pertaining to the rightful heir to the community’s throne.

The Appeal Court, in a unanimous judgment, led by Justice Mohammadu Danjuma, declared that the selection of Prince Adu as Alale-elect by the kingmaker remained valid.

The stay of execution was filed by Julius Olanipon to restrain Ondo State government from executing the Court of Appeal verdict on the 11th December 2017, which affirmed the High Court judgment on 20th December 2013.
