Ahead of its June 22 primary election in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated the Election and Appeal Panel to conduct the primary for the emergence of its flag bearer for the September governorship election in the state.
The National Vice Chairman of the party in the South South zone, Hillard Etagbo, who represented the acting National Chairman, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, advised the committees to ensure the success of the emergence of the party’s flag bearer in the coming election.
The Election Panel is headed by Imo Governor, Senator Hope Uzordinma and Senator Ajibola Bashiru as Secretary, while the Appeal Panel has Dr. Yusuf Nawai as Chairman and Dr. Kayode Ajulo as Secretary.
The APC has this week been embroiled in another round of leadership crisis following the Appeal Court affirming the judgement of a FCT High Court that Adams Oshiomhole, having been suspended by the Edo state chapter of the party should not parade himself as the National Chairman.
This development however led to the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Victor Gaidom declaring himself as the acting national Chairman. Gaidom said since the Deputy national Chairman, Ajumobi could not assume duty due to health reasons; he is the next ranking member of the party from the south.

The leadership crisis rocking the party is part of the fallout from the tussle between the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and the suspended National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole. Obaseki has since resigned his membership from the party.
