The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its party Edo state primary ahead of the governorship election in September.
The party had earlier scheduled the primary for June 19, but the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan announced on twitter that the primary would now hold on June 23.
There are reports that the postponement may not be unconnected with the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, who recently resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although the governor has not publicly announced his next move, there are indications that he would decamp to the PDP having met with stakeholders of the party after his disqualification by the APC.
