Some bandits on Thursday afternoon ambushed, shot and killed a trader in Zamfara State for demanding money for items sold to them.
The bandits were said to have killed the trader, Haruna Anas, when they ambushed him along Tsafe road following a disagreement after he sold some items to them in his shop at Yankuzo area of the state.
It was gathered that after selling the items, the bandits refused to pay and this led to the disagreement and in anger, the marauders laid an ambush for him on the Tsafe road that leads to Yankuzo.
He was eventually caught in the ambush, as the bandits shot him dead before they retreated into the forest.
A source close to the community told Impact Nigeria News Online on Thursday night that his corpse was seen on the road by some residents who later informed family members about their discovery.
The source added that the family had taken the corpse away from the road and he is expected to be buried in accordance with Islamic rites on Friday afternoon.
In another positive development, Operation FANSAN YAMMA of the Nigerian Army has launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV, a coordinated offensive aimed at putting sustained pressure on terrorist and criminal networks across the North-West.
In Katsina State for example, troops of Sector 2 conducted a clearance operation around suspected terrorist enclaves in Dutsinma Local Government Area on Thursday, forcing the terrorists to abandon their positions and flee into surrounding bushes.
In Zamfara State, the air component carried out precision strikes on terrorists reportedly converging on motorcycles in Anka Local Government Area. Scores were reportedly killed, while others abandoned their motorcycles and fled into the surrounding bushes.
The operation is also targeting the Lakurawa terrorist network, with efforts focused on preventing infiltration, disrupting movement and logistics, and stopping terrorists from establishing new footholds across the region.
