A notorious bandits leader terrorising people of some communities in Zamfara State, Kachalla Hare, has died from injuries sustained during a gun duel with security forces.
Also, a number of his fighters were killed during the encounter which occurred forces on Tuesday night.
It was gathered that Kachalla Hare, who had been terrorising communities around Mada in Gusau Local Government Area and parts of Bungudu Local Government Area, met his Waterloo after he and his fighters encountered security forces near Gusami village, between Bungudu and Gusau.
A source who was in the know of the encounter disclosed that while a number of his fighters were killed during the gun battle, Hare was captured with injuries and he later died from the injuries in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2.
The source said: “Days ago, following the killing of one of his associates, some people believed Hare had also been killed. Now, his end has finally come following his encounter with security forces.”
In other cheering developments, on Wednesday morning, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out successful operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states, killing terrorists and recovering a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
According to the Nigerian Army in a statement, in Zamfara, troops ambushed terrorists around Kwanar Jolof and recovered an RPG launcher, RPG bomb, AK-47 rifle, six magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.
In Kaduna, troops intercepted a vehicle along the Saulawa-Zaria Road and recovered 793 rounds of ammunition hidden inside gari. One suspected courier was killed after resisting a search and attempting to flee.
