Men of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, September 2, rescued Mrs Adonkie, wife of Brigadier General Basil Adonkie (retd), who was abducted from her residence on Tuesday, September 1.
Following the abduction reported by her family, troops of the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison immediately launched a coordinated pursuit operation along multiple suspected escape routes to locate the kidnappers and secure the release of the woman.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops advanced through the Aco Estate-Goza community axis and established contact with the kidnappers.
Overwhelmed by the troops’ rapid response and superior firepower, the abductors were said to have abandoned the woman and fled into nearby bushes, leading to the rescue of Mrs Adonkie at Angwan Sabo Village.
The troops subsequently intensified the pursuit along the Aco Estate-Angwan Sayawa axis, while additional forces were deployed to block likely escape routes and prevent the criminals from evading capture.
In a follow-up operation, troops intercepted two fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
Alongside the two suspected kidnappers troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 19 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
“The troops have continued clearance and tracking operations across the general area to apprehend the remaining suspects,” the Nigerian Army said in a statement on Wednesday.
