The bandits who abducted 30 residents of a community in Niger State have demanded the sum of N150 million in order to release 17 of them.
An impeccable source told Impact Nigeria News Online on Saturday night that the bandits stormed Ibeto community in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State about 54 days ago and took away 30 residents.
However, after spending 54 days in captivity, the bandits were said to have made contact with the community leaders, asking them to provide the N150 million in order to release 17 out of the 30 victims.
It was gathered that entire community has been thrown into confusion following the money demanded which some of the residents described as outrageous and unrealistic.
The source added that what angered the residents most is that the authorities of the Magama Local Government Area seem to be aloof to what was happening regarding the abduction as they have not shown any concern for almost two months when the abduction took place.
The state government as well as security agencies in the area were also accused by the residents of not making any efforts in rescuing their people.
As of the time of this report, there were no indication that any amount had been raised to be sent to the bandits while the situation of the captives continues to be worrisome.
