The Nigerian Stock Exchange (now known as Nigerian Exchange Limited) on Monday, February 23, warned those investing in various shares at the stock market to beware of shares whose prices are rising astronomically.

Prices of some shares at the stock market have become so high that many people are wondering what businesses are the companies doing that made such increases possible.

For example, it is not impossible to find that the price of a stock that was N10 in November 2025 has risen to N300 in February 2026, a span of three months.

Many observers of stock movements have said this unusual price increases could be due to manipulation by some people in order to make profit.

However, on Monday, the Nigerian Exchange Limited, in a statement, warned investors, urging them to be careful regarding the shares they trade in at the market.

In the statement it entitled: “investors Alert,” the exchange said investment decisions should be based on publicly available information and a careful assessment of companies fundamentals, risk profile and financial performance.

It therefore advised investors to ensure due diligence before making investment decisions and avoid speculative trading based on rumours or unverified information.

Also on Monday, the exchange suspended trading on Zichi Agro-allied Industries Limited on the stock market whose share price rose from N1.83 in January to N17 in February, less than one month of trading.

The exchange said the stock was suspended in order to carry out investigation into its activities and to ensure no manipulation was taking place.
